Divisions
Fast Pitch – Men’s & Women’s
*Female: 30+, 40+, 50+
*Male: 30+, 40+, 50+
NB Grades may be combined for minor rounds depending on the number of teams nominating per grade.
NB Softball SA reserves the right to grade teams in consultation with the competition committee.
Nominations
Minimum number of players: 10 per Team
Maximum number of players: 15 per Team
Team nominations with a minimum of 6 players to be in by no later than 5 January.
Final teams and name of team umpire to be provided by no later than 12 January.
A draw will be published on 17 January.
Teams are entitled to enter from anywhere in Australia and don’t need to be an affiliated club but all team members need to be registered.
Age Requirements
Age determined as of 31 December 2024. No exceptions will be made.
Players and Officials
Players and officials must be registered for insurance purposes prior to the first game.
Any player or official who isn’t a regular player or official may register for a week membership to allow for coverage of insurance.
Teams do not need to be normal affiliated teams, as players can form a team and register with Softball SA individually.
Individual Players
Anyone willing to participate but does not have a team, can provide their details to Softball SA Events teams who will assist this person in finding a team in an appropriate division.
Game Time
70 minutes, game complete and countback rules apply (no new inning after 65min)
In minor finals (SF/EF/PF), when the score is level after 60 minutes, no new innings to start and move immediately to a tie break situation with previous completed batter to start on 2nd.
Major Finals (GF) will be 70 minutes - complete the innings they are in with no new innings after 65 minutes. If scores are level after 65 minutes or at end of completed inning, move straight to a tie break situation with previous completed batter to start on 2nd.
Umpires
A plate and base umpire will be provided in all games (from the pool of umpires provided by each team).
Each team must supply an official umpire. This must be provided no later than 12 January. The team and the team umpire can work out their own arrangements for payment. A team umpire will be allotted games by the tournament chief umpire.
Balls
Each team must supply 2 reasonably conditioned (Easton 888) balls per game.
Rules
Rules will be as they were for the Australian Masters Games in 2023.
Compulsory temporary runners for Pitchers and Catchers when 2 out.
For 50+ divisions, one extra temporary runner per innings per team above the mandatory one for catcher and pitcher can be used at any time regardless of number of outs.
5 runs rule maximum per inning.
All men’s divisions will pitch from 46 feet.
All women’s divisions will pitch from 43 feet.
Games to be played
All games to be played on Barratt East and Barratt West.
Game times
8am, 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm, 3.30pm, 5pm, 6.30pm
Entry Cost
$300 (including GST) per team - teams to be invoiced by Softball SA.
The registration fee covers the following, plus other, items:
- Trophies
- Administration (eg paperwork, printing, scorecards, etc)
- First aid on site
- Port-a-loos and associated hygiene and cleaning costs
- Groundskeeping machinery costs (eg petrol, etc)
- Infrastructure
Tech Meeting
TBA - Saturday 25 January - all team managers & coaches to attend.
