 THIS NOMINATION FORM IS FOR ADELAIDE SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION DRAFT PLAYERS ONLY

If a player from Adelaide Softball Association wishes to compete, they must enter the draft.

Draft
Any player from Adelaide Softball Association is permitted to enter the draft. They will be required to supply their name, grade, preferred position and preferred pick-up team (not applicable) to the events committee by 5pm 22 December.
Players will receive the following points if they have ever:
·        Played in an open level national team 4 points
·        Played in US college system, played in a National Under 19 team or played in Open State team 3 points
·        Currently play in the Adelaide Premier League 1 point
·        Any other player 0 points

The highest points per individual will apply.
A team may make up to 4 selections or a maximum of 7 points.
A player who is registered in that association will not have any points applied to them, it will only be for draft players.
Once names have been provided, the committee will place the two highest ranking players to their preferred team if that team requires players. They will be deemed “elected draft players” The remaining will enter a formal draft process which will occur at 7pm Wednesday 9 January (online).
Teams to provide the draft and elected draft players with uniform. Costs can be negotiated between player and team.

Championship Dates
Friday 24 - Monday 27 January 2025

Divisions
Men's A & B Grades
Women's A, B1 & B2 Grades
ASA teams are allowed to nominate for B2 Grade only

Nominations
Minimum number of players: 10 per Team
Maximum number of players: 15 per Team
Team nominations with a minimum of 6 players to be in by no later than 5 January.
Final teams and name of team umpire to be provided by no later than 12 January.
A draw will be published on 17 January.

Age Requirements
Minimum age – must be 15 years of age as of 31 December 2024.

Players and Officials
For A, B and B1 grade, only teams from affiliated SA associations, except for Adelaide Softball Association, are permitted to enter. The team will represent the association not a specific club.
For B2 grade, only teams from affiliated SA associations are permitted to enter including a team from the Adelaide Softball Association. The team will represent the association not a specific club.

Individual Players
Players must be currently registered with the association that they play for during the championship. If an individual wishes to play from an association (with exception of Adelaide Softball Association) and that association doesn’t enter a team, they may play for another association with the permission of the event committee.

Game Time
Round Robin and minor finals (SF/EF/PF) times will be 70min, game complete and countback rules apply (no new inning after 65min)
In minor finals, when the score is level after 60 minutes, no new innings to start and move immediately to a tie break situation with previous completed batter to start on 2nd.
Major Finals (GF) will be 75 min complete the innings they are in with no new innings after 70 minutes. If scores are level after 70 minutes or at end of completed inning, move straight to a tie break situation with previous completed batter to start on 2nd.

Umpires
A plate and base umpire will be provided in all games (from the pool of umpires provided by each team).
Each team must supply an official umpire. This must be provided no later than 12 January. The team and the team umpire can work out their own arrangements for payment. A team umpire will be allotted games by the tournament chief umpire.

Each association will need to submit an Umpire Nomination Form (available separately).

Balls
2 balls each game will be supplied per match by Softball SA.

Rules
Rules will be as per the previous State Championship rules (some minor edits to occur)
The battery must not be worth more than 4 points.
7 runs rule maximum per inning.
All men’s divisions will pitch from 46 feet.
All women’s divisions will pitch from 43 feet.

Games to be played
All A grade games to be played on D1, D2 with remainder of games in other grades to be played on D1 and D2 as a preference and overflow onto Barratt Reserve.

Game times
8am, 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm, 3.30pm, 5pm, 6.30pm, 8pm (D1 and D2 only)

Entry Cost
$300 (including GST) per team - teams to be invoiced by Softball SA.

If your association chooses to pass this fee on to the registered players, and if the team has the maximum number of 15 players per team, this costs each player $20. This amount is less if officials contribute to the registration fee.

The registration fee covers the following, plus other, items:
- Match balls
- Trophies
- Administration (eg paperwork, printing, scorecards, etc)
- First aid on site
- Port-a-loos and associated hygiene and cleaning costs
- Groundskeeping machinery costs (eg petrol, etc)
- Infrastructure

Tech Meeting
TBA - Saturday 25 January - all team managers & coaches to attend.
