Opening Half of Season 2024-25

Adelaide
ASA started the season in fine fashion: 2024 Celebrity Round and a Grand Final replay to kick off the season; Sturt’s Mental Health Round supporting Talk Out Loud Australia; Seacombe’s Domestic Violence Awareness Round supporting The Yellow Gate; Glenelg’s Breast Cancer Round supporting So Brave; Umpire Appreciation Round; Home Run Heroes program.

Centrals
CDSA launched their season with a brand new logo. They’ve also hosted a Home Run Heroes program, as well as getting ready to host the Junior State Champs in February, under lights at Ridley Reserve. CDSA have welcomed the Gawler Under 12’s to their competition. And a huge celebration for Natalie Turner on her 600th game for Valley View Eagles. What an accomplishment!

Gawler
GDSA has lobbied their local council to fix a major issue with their new lighting towers at Karbeethan Reserve, and a resolution should happen very soon, with the towers being moved to allow Gawler to play games on the main diamond. Kanga’s own Amanda ‘Roadie’ Unger was nominated for South Australia’s Best Junior Sports Coach. The Gawler Masters team won bronze in the Women’s +35 Division 2 at the Pan Pacific Games.

Hills
Hills has held a Home Run Heroes program on Friday nights this season, and catering for each Friday night and Saturday has been the responsibility of clubs. Hills Heat player, Skye Voumard, has been honoured with the Port Pirie Regional Council 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award – Recognising Youth Excellence, for her contributions to softball.

Mt Gambier
A brand new scoreboard was the star of the opening rounds in Mt Gambier, with association legend Di Humphries cutting the ribbon. Nikita Platt held 2 clinics – Battery, and Player Development. At the end of November, Mt Gambier held their All Star Fully Loaded Softball Competition, with the Champs vs the Masters, which is a fundraising event for a local charity. This year they raised $2816 for the Mount Gambier Breast Cancer Awareness Group.

NAMSA
The men’s comp has been very game focussed, as well as getting teams together for the Country Champs in January. NAMSA has also been making sure that their sponsors are well supported by the community. Progress on a permanent home at Ridley Reserve is still ongoing, in collaboration with CDSA and the City of Playford.

Port Pirie
Patron of PPSA, The Honourable Geoff Brock MP, threw the opening pitch to open the season. Pirie has hosted a Home Run Heroes program, as well as holding an umpiring clinic. They have also celebrated a couple of milestones: Jessica Haren with 200 games, and Jacque Bateson with 500 games for Checkmates Softball Club.

Riverland
Scott & Jo from Monkey See Monkey Do and Sammy D Foundation presented a clinic in the Riverland, and then those same presenters held a softball coaching clinic. Riverland have held Charity and Indigenous rounds, supporting their local players, officials and community.

Sunraysia
Over the border, Sunraysia has played host to a successful 8-week Social 7’s competition, with the final week being Festive-themed. Their A Grade team has also played at home and in the Riverland, as they did last season. Sunraysia also supported the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, as well as hosting their Indigenous round.

We look forward to seeing many associations represented at the Country and Masters Championships in January at West Beach, as well as the Junior State Championships in February at CDSA.
